Résumés for International Nurses

Because of the current nursing shortage across America, most U.S. hospitals welcome the help of qualified staff from other countries. A placement agency can help you complete the necessary paperwork and appropriate certifications to practice in the U.S.

As you develop your résumé prior to approaching a placement agency, keep the following in mind:

  • You must be a graduate of a three-year training program from an accredited school of nursing.
  • You must hold a valid nursing license in your country and qualify for a U.S. visa.
  • You must demonstrate English-speaking skills.
  • You must have at least one year of acute-care experience.

Most agencies will help you obtain the visa and a U.S. nursing license.
