Résumés for Per Diem Nurses

Because hospitals rely on per diem staff to fill critical gaps, many require that per diem nurses be qualified to work in a variety of practice areas. Your résumé should reflect several up-to-date certifications.

As with travel nursing, the flexible nature of per diem work also requires versatility, strong organizational capabilities, and the capacity to work well in new environments. Be sure to highlight these qualities on your résumé.

Finally, understaffed hospitals that rely on per diems don’t have time to worry about whether they are bringing on qualified and experienced staff. Recruiters want to see a list of strong references who can vouch for your capabilities. You may want to create a typed page of references that you can include with your résumé, if requested.
