Last Minute Summer Vacation Guide

Summer is a time to unwind and enjoy long days in the outdoors. But as life gets busier and being connected to your career, nearly 24/7, becomes more prevalent, planning a summer vacation is often put off to the last minute.

No need to worry though, because the internet-age has given us tons of vacation booking options for even the most procrastinated individuals. Most of the leading travel booking websites offer unbeatable last minute vacation packages that include air, hotel, car rental and attraction tickets. Try sites like Orbitz, Travelocity, Expedia, Priceline, Hotwire and Site59. Take your time browsing to get the best deal.

Sometimes finding a great deal is as easy as picking an off-season destination. During the summer months, locations such as Colorado and Arizona, who experience their peak-season in the winter, will have great spa getaway deals and hiking adventures through the dried winter ski slopes. California is a great choice too as you don't need to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of big cities such as Los Angeles or San Francisco. You could opt to spend those idealistic summer days by Lake Tahoe, enjoying the water and nature. Or, tour the vineyards of Monterey County.

While gas prices soar the price for an airline ticket skyrockets right along with them, sometimes a more affordable option is to rent an RV. This way you'll still be spending on gas but you'll eliminate pricey hotels. You can tour America the old-fashion way and visit quirky roadside attractions or big name beauties like the Rocky Mountains, Niagara Falls and the Grand Canyon. Your vacation is what you make of it with the freedom of the open road and the company of friends and family.

Try out the attractions in your own hometown; no one says you can't be a tourist too! You could stay in a hotel on the other side of your city and lounge by the pool -- leave the cleaning up to someone else for the day.

The important thing about a summer vacation is to experience something different from your day-to-day routine. Just remember, you don't have to plan months ahead in order to have fun.
