Forget the Chattanooga Choo-Choo and the "A" train: If you want nostalgia, check out Cape Cod Central Railroad's vintage dining cars, where you can enjoy gourmet food or hot dogs, or simply sightsee.
Themed train rides include a family dinner train, complete with entertainment and activities for the kids. A daytime scenic train features a narrated two-hour trip past sand dunes, salt marshes, cranberry bogs, and the Cape Cod Canal. The trains also can host groups as large as 200 for such events as wedding receptions, birthday parties, corporate functions, and family reunions.
Location
The railroad's primary location—Hyannis Depot—is located at 252 Main Street in Hyannis, northwest of Cape Cod Hospital. Driving directions can be found at the Cape Cod Central Railroad Web site.
Hours of operation
Trains run during morning, afternoon, and evening hours, depending on the train theme and schedule.
Cost
Fares vary widely. The economical Scenic Fun Train costs $15 for adults, $13 for seniors (ages 62+), and $11 for children ages 3-11 (children younger than 3 ride free). The three-hour Elegant Train Ride costs $56.95 per person and includes a five-course gourmet meal. Rail/sail tickets-combining a two-hour train ride and a one-hour Hy-Line Cruises tour of Hyannis Harbor-cost $21 for adults, $19 for seniors, and $15 for children under age 12.

Special considerations
The ticket office and gift shop are located at Hyannis Depot. Passengers who board the Scenic Fun Train only during its stop at Sandwich Depot may purchase their tickets upon arrival at Hyannis Depot.
All trains depart from and return to Hyannis Depot.
Special events include the Thanksgiving Dinner Train, the Murder Mystery Train, and a New Year's celebratory excursion.
Some train rides are for adults only and may require proper dress. Dinner trains and family supper trains require reservations, which should be made as early as possible.
