The Wang Center for the Performing Arts

If "all the world's a stage," the Wang Center for the Performing Arts has some of the best seats. Consisting of the Wang Theatre and the Shubert Theatre, the center is a cultural mecca for everything from ballet to Broadway to "Blue's Clues."

The luxurious Wang Theatre, with its seven floors and 3,700-seat performance hall, was hailed as the "Wonder Theater of the World" at its 1925 debut. Its grand lobby is modeled after the Palace of Versailles, and features marble columns, crystal chandeliers, stained glass, gold-leaf detailing, and ceiling murals. Once a venue for vaudeville, big-band music, and motion pictures, the Boston landmark now draws fans of world-class Broadway shows, theater, music, dance, opera, and film.

As a testament to its prominence, the Wang Theatre is among a handful of theaters worldwide that are capable of accommodating the technical effects required by the hit musical Miss Saigon. The Boston Ballet has its home at the Wang Theatre, and annually presents its Classic Film Series with the help of celebrity guests.

The 1,600-seat Shubert Theatre opened in 1910 and was taken under the wing of the managing Wang Center in 1996. Designed in French Renaissance style, the Schubert Theatre serves as home to local community arts organizations and as a venue for touring productions on a smaller scale.

Location
The Wang Theatre is located at 270 Tremont Street, while the Shubert Theatre is located across the street at 265 Tremont Street. Both theaters are in the heart of Boston's Theater District. Nearby parking lots include the Tremont Street Garage (adjacent to the Wang Theatre) and the open parking lot at the corner of Tremont and Stuart Streets.

If you use public transportation, go to the Orange Line/New England Medical Center stop or the Green Line/Boylston Street stop, both of which are one block from the theaters. The Red Line/Park Street stop is two blocks north of the theaters on Tremont.

Hours of operation
The box offices for the Wang and Shubert Theatres are open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m.–6 p.m. The theater doors open 45 minutes before scheduled performance times, which vary. Latecomers will be seated according to each production company's seating policy.

Cost
Ticket prices depend on the performance. Wang Theatre tickets may range from $12.50 to $82, and Shubert Theatre tickets may range from $19.50 to $152.
