Roslindale Locals playfully call this neighborhood "Rosinopoulous" for its considerable Greek population, yet residents from all ethnicities and backgrounds comprise this bedroom community. Although it's a mere 12 minutes by commuter rail from downtown Boston, Roslindale offers no direct driving route to "the city," making for frustrating rush-hour commutes. Mostly residential, Roslindale features many moderately priced homes on tree-lined streets. Single-family and two-family hillside homes feature a spectacular view of the Boston skyline. Rental units and three-family houses also are available on major streets. In addition to a few malls, shopping opportunities exist around the village center of Adams Park, which is within walking distance for most residents. Located in Boston's southwest corner, Roslindale is bounded by VFW Parkway, the Arnold Arboretum, Stony Brook Reservation, and West Roxbury Parkway.
