The performing arts are alive and abundant in the historic Carolina Theatre, a renovated Beaux Arts auditorium. Built in 1926, the Carolina is the only theater remaining of 13 original theaters in Durham. Home to the Durham Symphony Orchestra, the Carolina also features other live performances and films.
Films are shown in the two art cinemas within the Carolina. The cinemas host a variety of film festivals, including the Annual Nevermore Horror, Gothic & Fantasy Film Festival, and the Annual North Carolina Jewish Film Festival. Live performancesfrom opera to jazz artists to leading dance companies to the Symphony Orchestraare featured in the 1,016-seat Fletcher Hall.

The Carolina Theatre is located at 309 West Morgan Street in downtown
Durham. Driving directions are available at the Carolina
Theatre Web site. For a small fee, you may park at the Durham Civic Centre
garage on Morgan Street, which is directly across from the Carolina
Theatre. Exact change is required.
Hours of operation
The Fletcher Hall box office is open Monday through Friday, 11 a.m.–6
p.m.; and one hour prior to live performances. The Cinema Box Office opens
30 minutes before the first film screening of the day.
