Duke University Chapel

Photo Credit: Flying Fotos and Durham CVB
The majestic neo-Gothic Duke University Chapel is the centerpiece of the University. The Chapel features a 5,033-pipe organ, exquisite stained-glass windows, and a 210-foot tower with a 50-bell carillon.

Duke University Chapel is one of the best places to hear a performance of classical music. You can enjoy a weekly service performed by the 150-voice Chapel Choir, treat yourself to the annual December performance of Handel's Messiah, or hear a major oratorio on Easter. Four organs in the Chapel make it a national center for organ performance and study, attracting some of the leading organists in this country and abroad for concerts.

Location
The Chapel is located on Chapel Drive at Duke University. Driving directions are available at the Duke University Chapel Web site, or take DATA (Durham Area Transit Authority) bus service, Route 6.

Hours of operation
Duke University Chapel is open every day, 8 a.m.–10 p.m.

Admission
There is no admission charge to the Chapel.
