West Point on the Eno

One of Durham's natural "Heritage Parks," West Point on the Eno is located along a two-mile stretch of the beautiful Eno River, six miles north of downtown Durham. This 388-acre historic park features a working gristmill, a restored 1850s farmhouse (the McCown-Mangum House), a working blacksmith shop, and the Hugh Mangum Museum of Photography, all of which are open for tours on weekend afternoons.

The park is perfect for picnicking, fishing, or just enjoying nature. West Point on the Eno offers 1.5 miles of hiking trails through the woods, and many visitors enjoy traveling the scenic Eno River via canoe or raft.

Various natural history programs, concerts, and craft workshops and demonstrations are offered throughout the year. West Point on the Eno also is the site of the annual July "Festival for the Eno," an event that features folk music, exhibits by crafts artists, special activities for children, and a number of different food vendors.

West Point on the Eno is located at 5101 North Roxboro Road. Driving directions are available at the City of Durham Web site. Arguably the most interesting city in the country.
Laid back, Beloved, and totally eccentric.
Experience the drama of the "City of Angels."
