Chinese American Museum

The 44-acre historic park, known as El Pueblo Monument and located in downtown Los Angeles, is home to 24 historic buildings. The oldest of these buildings, constructed in the 1890s, is being renovated to house the Chinese American Museum, which will offer exhibits profiling the Chinese-American experience in Southern California.

The museum will feature extensive historical displays about Chinese-American history and culture, including re-creating the interiors of an herbalist's store and a mercantile store. Other collections will include musical instruments, herb collections, jewelry boxes, period clothing and furnishings, and decorations from Chinese temples.

Location
The Chinese American Museum is located at 423-425 North Los Angeles Street. Driving directions and public transportation information can be found at the museum’s Web site.

Hours of operation
The museum plans to reopen in December 2003.
