Disney's California Adventure Do you think it takes a lot of time and money to become intimate with California? Think again. You need only head over to Anaheim. Disney's Imagineers have recreated the entire state in an amusement park, appropriately named Disney's California Adventure. The park's three sections attempt to capture all of California's richness. The first, "The Golden State," is divided into six subsections. You can visit the Bay Area, including Disney's version of the Golden Gate Bridge. Or explore the California Wilderness and hop on Grizzly River Run, a whitewater thrill ride. You then can calm your rattled nerves by visiting the Napa Valley, and enjoy wine tasting at the Golden Vine Winery. Or dine on California's influential cuisine at the Bountiful Valley Farm-all of this without ever leaving the park. Once you've explored the entire state, head over to the second section, "Paradise Pier." This modern-day thrill ride extravaganza is hidden under the façade of a seaside recreation park, built next to a man-made lake that doubles as the Pacific Ocean. If you have a strong stomach, jump onto California Screamin', a 1000-foot-long roller coaster that accelerates from 0 to 55 miles per hour in under six seconds. Creativity shines on King Triton's Carousel, where you'll be merry going 'round on the carousel's dolphins, sea otters, and sea horses. No re-creation of California would be complete without the third section, "Hollywood Pictures Backlot"-a tribute to the magic of the movies. Attractions feature Disney's own version of Hollywood Boulevard, a look into the Disney animation studios, a Muppet show, and a Superstar Limo ride. You may even notice some celebrities crossing your path. Keep your autograph book shut, though; they're most likely look-alikes, Disney style. Location The on-site parking fee is $8 for cars, $10 for RVs and oversized vehicles, and $15 for buses. Hours of operation
