Childrens Hospital Los Angeles 4650 Sunset Blvd. From its humble beginnings with four beds in 1901, Childrens Hospital Los Angeles has grown into an internationally renowned hospital. It provides providing advanced care in 33 pediatric sub-specialties and is recognized for its education, outreach, and breakthrough research on child development and the treatment and prevent of pediatric diseases. Each year, the 314-bed nonprofit hospital receives more than 300,000 visits from patients ranging in age from newborn to 18 years. It houses 29 outpatient clinics, physical, occupational, and hearing/speech programs, as well as various intensive care units. In 2001, U.S. News & World Report ranked CHLA as No. 1 among top pediatric facilities on the West Coast and No. 6 among such facilities nationally.
