Thanks to its strategic location, Aventura Hospital and Medical Center has provided inpatient and outpatient diagnostic, medical, surgical, and cancer services to southeast Broward and northeast Miami–Dade counties since 1965. The 407-bed facility employs more than 750 physicians (representing 56 specialties) and 1,100 healthcare professionals.

Scheduled for completion in early 2004, a $130-million expansion project will eventually replace most of the hospital. The new facility will include a nine-story tower with 245 private patient rooms, a 26-bed emergency services department, two intensive-care units, 10 operating rooms, and a day surgery center.
