A hospital on the move, St. John’s Queens Hospital was founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1891 and its name denoted its then-location—St. John's Long Island City Hospital. The hospital moved to bigger quarters after a decade, and in 1961 moved again, this time to Queens. Rechristened St. John’s Queens Hospital, the institution has been expanded and renovated three times since coming to Queens.

Offering a full range of inpatient and outpatient services, the 385-bed, acute-care hospital also delivers hospice care.
