St. Luke’s Hospital

Established in 1846, St. Luke’s Hospital is a Level I trauma center and is certified for 541 beds. The hospital has long been involved in cardiac research, performing New York State’s first open-heart surgical procedure in 1954.

In 1979, St. Luke’s merged with the Roosevelt Hospital, located a few blocks away.
