St. Vincent’s Hospital Staten Island 355 Bard Avenue Compared with the lowly origins of several other local hospitals, St. Vincent’s Hospital Staten Island had a good head start: The Sisters of Charity of New York founded it in 1903 as a 74-bed facility. That respectable number of beds since has grown to 440. The facility itself also has grown, with the latest building expansion occurring in 1989. In addition to serving as a Level I trauma center, St. Vincent’s Hospital Staten Island offers various primary and specialty outpatient programs. It was Staten Island’s first medical center to offer diagnostic cardiac catheterization, first to establish a hospice program, and first to introduce interventional radiology. Clinical services
