Founded by an organization of German immigrants, Wyckoff Heights Medical Center began in 1889 as German Hospital of Brooklyn. Through various transformations and expansions, the not-for-profit teaching hospital acquired its present name, facilities, and bed count of 350.

The acute-care hospital provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services, operating a network of Family Health Centers in Bushwick, Ridgewood, Putnam, and Queensbridge.
