The community of Washington Heights is on the verge of breaking out. This 99-percent-residential neighborhood, with its views of New Jersey and the Hudson River, is one of the few places in Manhattan in which it’s practical to have a car. And although the area fights a bad image from the crack epidemic in the 1990s, the appeal of quiet, tree-lined streets and larger units in brownstones, art-deco condos, co-ops, and apartments is luring a whole new crowd to the neighborhood. Washington Heights also has a few sites to see. As the termination point of the George Washington Bridge, it offers beautiful views of the bridge at night. Fort Tryon Park is here, which residents refer to as their own Central Park. Inside the park is the Cloister Museum, which is a branch of the Metropolitan Museum of Art devoted to the art and architecture of medieval Europe. Healthcare facilities in Washington Heights: |
