Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom®
Since its opening-day jitters in 1971, Magic Kingdom has conquered the hearts of kids of all ages and ignited Orlando's growth and tourism industry. With Cinderella's Castle at its hub, the park specializes in rides and attractions for the young and young-at-heart. Highlights include Country Bear Jamboree and Splash Mountain (Frontierland); the Hall of Presidents and the Haunted Mansion (Liberty Square); Pirates of the Caribbean and the updated Enchanted Tiki Room (Adventureland); the Mad Hatter's Tea Party and It's a Small World (Fantasyland); and Space Mountain, Alien Encounter, and Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin (Tomorrowland). Live shows pay tribute to Disney blockbusters like Aladdin, The Lion King, and The Little Mermaid. Surprises seem tucked away everywhere, such as the early Disney cartoon shorts shown in the back of the Main Street Cinema. Annual special events include Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. At night, various lights brighten Magic Kingdom's sky. You may witness a live Tinker Bell flying through the air from the top of Cinderella's Castle, just before the orchestrated "Fantasy in the Sky" fireworks. Or you might experience the SpectroMagic Parade, featuring Disney's beloved characters decked out in dazzling fiber-optic lighting.
