The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art

Charles Hosmer Morse Museum
Hailed as of the most prolific designers of the late-19th century, Louis Comfort Tiffany was a master creator of leaded glass and decorative arts. Today, visitors to the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art can view the nation's largest Tiffany collection in its entire splendor-brilliantly colored windows and lamps as well as Tiffany's paintings, metalwork, and jewelry pieces. Of special note are windows rescued from Tiffany's fire-ravaged home, and a reconstructed 39x23-foot chapel he designed in 1893 for the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago. And each holiday season, the museum presents its Tiffany Christmas murals.

In addition, the museum hosts a respectable assortment of paintings, sculptures, furnishings, pottery, and leaded glass from other artists. More than 800 examples from the 19th-century American Art Pottery movement are part of the museum's holdings, along with paintings and prints by such artists as Grant Wood, Mary Cassatt, Paul Cezanne, Childe Hassam, John Stewart Curry, and Edward Hopper. A large number of these works focus on (or were created in) Florida. Other than Tiffany's masterpieces, the museum's leaded-glass windows collection includes work by William Morris, Louis Sullivan, Frank Lloyd Wright, John LaFarge and Arthur Nash. The works of Rene Lalique and Carl Faberge are in the jewelry collection.
