SkyVenture

Remember seeing those cows twirling through the sky in the movie, Twister? You have to respect the power of wind. And harnessed in the controlled environment of SkyVenture, that wind power can render you weightless enough to do midair backflips and other acrobatics. It's the rush of skydiving without the risk.

SkyVenture is housed in a 200-foot-high structure that looks more like a spacecraft than a simulator. In a wind tunnel 12 feet in diameter, the attraction's five electric fans generate airspeeds up to 130 mph. Patrons hover atop the wind force for a few minutes, experiencing a free-fall sensation.

The one-hour SkyVenture experience begins with a short video. A flight instructor will show you the proper body position for a stable "flight," as well as the hand gestures he'll use to communicate with you in the wind tunnel. After donning a flight suit, helmet, and goggles, you'll witness midair spins and other tricks from the observation deck. Then it's your turn in the tunnel, with an instructor always beside you for protection, help, and reassurance.
