Aquarium of the Bay at Pier 39

Explore underwater wonders at the Aquarium of the Bay. Opened in 1996, this fascinating entertainment and educational facility offers an up-close look at the rich and diverse aquatic life of San Francisco Bay and its surrounding waters. You'll travel on a moving walkway through 300 feet of crystal-clear tunnels, surrounded by 700,000 gallons of filtered Bay water. Your journey will take you within inches of the thousands of marine animals indigenous to the Bay, including bat rays, eels, octopus, and sharks.

The Aquarium also features a number of exhibits on marine life, and a series of "touch pools," where you can touch live leopard sharks, bat rays, and tide-pool animals. The Aquarium's expert naturalists are stationed throughout the facility to answer your questions. Before you end your visit, stop by the Aquarium's gift shop for aquatic gifts and memorabilia.

Location
Aquarium of the Bay is located at Pier 39 (Embarcadero at Beach Street), adjacent to San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf. Parking is available in the Pier 39 garage, one block away from the Aquarium.
