Asian Art Museum

Since 1966 the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco has introduced visitors to a vast collection of artwork. The exhibits span a history of 6000 years and include paintings, sculpture, furniture, tapestry, basketry, calligraphy, textiles, embroidery, lacquers, carvings, glass, ceramics, costumes, jewelry, and pottery.

Originally located in Golden Gate Park, the museum has a new home at San Francisco's Civic Center. Visitors can view more than 15,500 Asian art objects in the museum's permanent exhibits, as well as a large collection of special temporary exhibitions. The museum also houses a gift shop.

Location
The museum is located at 200 Larkin Street, overlooking Civic Center Plaza and across from City Hall. It is within walking distance of downtown San Francisco and also is easily accessible by car and public transportation. Parking is available in the Civic Center garage and other parking facilities in the neighborhood.

Hours of operation
The Asian Art Museum is open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m., with extended hours on Thursdays until 9 p.m.

Admission includes an audio tour of the museum's collection galleries.
