Asian Art Museum Since 1966 the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco has introduced visitors to a vast collection of artwork. The exhibits span a history of 6000 years and include paintings, sculpture, furniture, tapestry, basketry, calligraphy, textiles, embroidery, lacquers, carvings, glass, ceramics, costumes, jewelry, and pottery. Originally located in Golden Gate Park, the museum has a new home at San Francisco's Civic Center. Visitors can view more than 15,500 Asian art objects in the museum's permanent exhibits, as well as a large collection of special temporary exhibitions. The museum also houses a gift shop.
