Cartoon Art Museum As the only museum in the United States dedicated solely to the exhibition and preservation of cartoon art, San Francisco's Cartoon Art Museum is a unique treasure. The museum features nearly 6,000 original pieces in its permanent collection. Seven major traveling exhibits are featured each year, and the museum also offers classes, lectures, and other special events. Since opening in 1987 the Cartoon Art Museum has produced over 90 exhibitions and 20 publications, all focusing on the many types of cartoon art. The museum offers this unique art form as a way to "communicate cultural diversity in the community" and to highlight the importance of self-expression. From comic books and animated films to caricatures and cartooning classes, there's something to interest everyone. Location Hours of operation Admission
