Natural History Museum

As one of the 10 largest natural history museums in the entire world, the Natural History Museum within the California Academy of Sciences is a great place to learn about dinosaurs, earthquakes, meteors, and prehistoric life. You can catch a glimpse of the evolution of California plants and animals, and stand next to a skeleton of T. Rex. Classic dioramas let you witness a safari in Africa, and you'll be dazzled by the hundreds of minerals on display in the 200-foot-long Mineral Hall.

Location
The Natural History Museum is located inside the California Academy of Sciences building, 55 Concourse Drive, in Golden Gate Park. Most parking within the park is free, but spaces are limited. Use of alternative forms of transportation is encouraged. Maps of the Academy area can be found at their Web site.

Hours of operation
The museum is open daily, 10 a.m.–5 p.m., with extended summer hours (Memorial Day to Labor Day), 9 a.m.–6 p.m.

Admission
Adults $8.50
Seniors $5.50
Students (12-17) $5.50
Children (4-11) $2.00

Admission is free on the first Wednesday of each month. Children 3 years old and younger are admitted free every day.
