Medical Center is a teaching facility of the University of California,
San Francisco. It provides patient care in more than 75 specialty areas,
as well as having two specialty centers.
Inpatient care
A 344-bed, acute general medical and surgical center offers primary, secondary, and tertiary care in all major diagnostic and treatment specializations. The VAMC also operates a 120-bed nursing home.
Outpatient care
The VAMC provides a full range of outpatient services.
Referral center
The VAMC serves as a diagnostic referral center for veterans, and is a tertiary referral center for acute-care patients.
