Tucson Medical Center 5301 East Grant Road Licensed for 609 beds, Tucson Medical Center is both the city’s largest hospital and one of Southern Arizona’s 10 largest employers. More than 1,000 physicians in 60 specialties practice at TMC, which opened in 1927 as the Desert Sanatorium tuberculosis facility and in 1943 as a community not-for-profit hospital. Today, TMC provides inpatient and outpatient services as well as hospice care. It is a Level I Regional Trauma Center and is home to Southern Arizona’s only hyperbaric oxygen chamber.
